Hi guys,

I have brought my 2018 Touring in twice to the dealer, its still under certified warranty. They did alignments, but it still seems like the steering wheel is not even - I don't think it's an alignment but the actual steering wheel, it seems to naturally be slightly more turned to the right. Has anyone experienced this? Any way to fix this?

If you're the original owner, with original steering wheel, and it's always been out of alignment it's possible when it was put on the wheels were slightly cocked. The steering should be removed, wheels aligned straight, and steering wheel re-installed... that is if installation of steering wheels is the same as it was back in the day when I changed a steering wheel. I had my stock steering replaced w/the heated version and it's aligned straight. Now, with that said if for some reason the steering wheel can only be installed in one location (IE: there is some kind of spline/grooves that only fit in one location) then something else other than the steering wheel may not be lined up correctly.

I got the car a few months ago. It always was slight off, its like the steering wheel when you have your hands off slight goes to the right - i cant figure out.

With you saying the car was purchased a few months ago and it being an '18 model year I'm assuming it was a used car purchase. If that is the case do you know the history of the car prior to your purchase? Hard to tell what could be the reason w/it if it was a used car.... some simple (as I mentioned earlier steering was removed and not lined back up on re-install), some not so good (car has been wrecked and something not put back together correctly).

Some thoughts to consider:
  1. It's possible that the steering wheel was removed once, but not put back on straight. If this is the case, then the steering wheel would have to be pulled and realigned.
  2. Most roads are crowned at the center and slant to your right. Which means a car may naturally pull to the right because of gravity, resulting in the steering wheel tilting toward the right.
  3. I remember a long time ago reading that cars are aligned to pull slightly to the right. This was because of safety reasons to avoid head-on collisions in the event the driver stops steering the car (such as when falling asleep). I have no proof of whether this was true or is still true today.
  4. Test drive another 10th gen Accord and see if you get the same results as with your Accord. If not, then it's definitely a steering wheel alignment issue, in which case consideration #1 is the solution.
