2019 Accord EX 1.5L Sport Mode but no Paddles

Hello all, I recently bought the Mrs a 2019 Accord EX with the 1.5L turbo. I was driving the car the other day and found out it has sport mode. I began looking into it but was kind of surprised to find out that almost every video or article I could find was for cars that have the paddle shifters built into the steering wheel, which our car doesn’t have. My question is, what should happen if I put the car into sport mode and can’t shift it due to the lack of shifter paddles? I haven’t actually put the shifter into sport mode due to fear of damaging something if the car didn’t shift out of first gear. Any help is greatly appreciated!

The SPORT mode on my car (2019 EXL 2.0 10AT) doesn't Require the use of the paddles - i.e. the default is for the car to shift on its own, per factory programmed settings. I can then choose to interrupt/override factory shifting by using the paddles whenever I feel like it... If you think about it, it wouldn't make too much sense to give your car an option (like SPORT mode) if it requires some other accessory (like paddles) and then not give you that accessory (unless they are nickel/diming you by making you buy that accessory separately - or worse, a subscription - smh) - IIRC paddle shifters are Not an OEM accessory. Also btw, we can also use paddle shifters in regular/D mode too...

The 1.5T is CVT only as an automatic. You won’t have paddles as a result, there’s nothing to worry about. Throw it in sport and have some fun, the TCU will make the CVT do exactly what it needs to do.
