I would like share techniques used during the buying process.
I was in the biz so am familiar with many of the Jedi mind tricks.
Today you can shop online.
Some Dealers advertise car prices on their site. Then, there’s true price or some other gimmick. Enter a fictitious name and an email and you get emailed an even lower price.
This becomes the starting line when you print it out and walk into the dealership.
I immediately sought out the sales manager and asked him for the new salesperson or the one who struggled the most last month.
Got some 24 year old girl who’s mom should be age appropriate to date.
The internet salespeople seem to drop prices faster than in person.
Don’t use your real name and create an email for the buying process.
Don Ready, was my online character. Sometimes I use Arthur Wright.
Always negotiate the car first, leave out trade and the accessories.
Doc fee is fictitious so plan on a lower number to include it or walk out.
Extended Warranty? Put the money in your savings. The commission could be half the price so what are you really paying towards the extended warranty insurance plan? Sometimes nada.
You have up to 3/36 to buy it. I bought one on the 2000 Insight. Never used it. Hybrid battery lasted 130K miles. I did most of all the work on the car including dropping in a 33% higher capacity hybrid battery. Still drives like a dream.
Last Thursday I found my Accord up north at the sister dealership. It had just arrived, no tint no nothing. All I asked the dealer is miles and tint? The internet manager rolled over And gave a price too. Lower than my signed agreement to order the same car. I called my dealer to arrange a truck to get the car. Monday the car arrived. Tuesday I picked it up. Sales manager was furious with giving up More money after shipping it. I said your guy lowered the bar you take it up with him.
I got a sweet deal on the LX. I pray you do too. In the end, I really didn’t have to do any negotiating except print out the internet offer from theIr other dealer.
My dealer does not have an e-Store. They did agree to honor the accessory prices though. Bumper metal protector and body side moldings they will install. I can do the rest.
Cheers!
