After buying a new 2019 Accord LX I’d like to add backup proximity sensors and if possible also a radar detector for the blind spots. Is there a Honda kit, and would it be cheaper to have a private installation company rather than a dealer?

The back up sensors can be added as a accessory but the blind spot cannot be added. You would have to swap harnesses, multiplex, and mirrors and sensors with brackets.

The blindspot sensors in the 10th gen are under the tail lights behind the rear bumper cover, not in the mirrors.

I still doubt it’s a plug and play change though.
Correct about the placement of the sensors. I stated mirrors and sensors. What would be the point of him adding BSI if he has no way of it actually telling him there’s something in his blind spot? The mirrors have the indicators in them. Unfortunately we have been asked this numerous times even by our sales department.

You’re absolutely correct, and I didn’t think that answer through all the way. Mea Culpa.

all good man as a tech I do the same all the time especially when it’s something that been offered on previous models. I was planning on swapping out mirrors and adding door and handle lights from the touring and even the door harness is different.

I cannot believe this option isn't done at the factory. $1200 or something steep like that. The headliner comes down or is molested. Lots of potential to crinkle it.

The pros out weight the cons however, like other electronics, according to the fine print, it will fail in the heat or after a wash. No bueno here in AZ.

There are blue teeth camera license plates that theoretically could talk to the infotainment. Having a Euro skinny one on the front may be the practical solution.

Found it on Amazon: Wireless WiFi Front Camera for EU European License Plate for iOS and Android Night Vision and a custom EU plate
