Had read about that a few days ago. Those motors are for "race use only" (as are KTuner/Hondata along w/other performance mods) and total package is $9k. It will be interesting to see if any of them get purchased/used on the street, if so how reliable they will be (along w/other parts IE: transmission) for daily use.

Naw they opened them up for everyone to purchase (next to last paragraph). Personally if I already had a 2.0t that wasnt a CTR would be easier, and cheaper to build the engine, con rods valve ect.
I read/understand that anyone can purchase them now however they also state they are for track/race use only not street legal...

"Honda has now opened the program up to anyone, as it did with the Civic Type R TC race car we recently test drove. Honda is quick to point out, though, that the engine is only for use in track settings and is not street legal.

No worries @Vegashybrid... you're right that disclaimer is seen on most after market performance upgrades as I mentioned in my 1st post in this thread...

However just like the other after market performance parts/accessories someone will try it out.🙂

Def. I mean if it has all the emission components cant see why someone could not make it work and pass smog ect. Not worth it imo but like you said someone will def try it out.
