And the attachments in it, it got me to wondering. For those that have and will install aftermarket tuners (Hondata/KTuner) w/stage 1, 2, etc., tunes but return them to stock if they bring them into dealership (for service or warranty work) will a "fingerprint" be left behind that those upgraded tunes were installed in the vehicle? How will this impact manufacturers warranty (engine, transmission, and any other items related to the powertrain)?View attachment 4309 View attachment 4310 If your CMBS ever has a activation it stores it in the control unit. Same for the lane departure. So the dealer should of been able to see all instances of it going off even if it wasn’t setting a code. As far as clipping a wire or unplugging something to deactivate it, no. You can turn everything off so that they aren’t active but anything unplugged will set DTC. Especially with the radar unit. If you trigger a misalignment code the only way to reset that is to perform a radar aim which sucks ass.
I think most are going with the thinking, if you decide to make modifications like and ECU tune, etc, then you should face the consequences of such actions.Beulah, Beulah.... 60+ views w/no replies. Is this a mute point... Has no one else thought about or concerned about this?
Totally agree... however there was a member awhile ago that the dealer sold/installed tuner & tunes and told them their warranty would remain intact. Either that dealer was pulling the wool over that customer's eyes or is going to try to pull it over Honda's eyes if any warranty issues arise.I think most are going with the thinking, if you decide to make modifications like and ECU tune, etc, then you should face the consequences of such actions.
That has been my experience also (in the two-wheel world). Lately some tuners are implying that since they can return the stock tune back into the vehicle if needed than no trace(s) of aftermarket tuners can be seen. However.... I'm not buying that... the aftermarket tune may not be in the car but evidence of something other than stock will show up somewhere.I am not sure about these but everyone I have used on prior cars ALWAYS leaves a bread crumb. Only way I found to get past that is using a piggy back ECU.
