My only concern with these that I can't seem to clear up is their compatibility in northern states during winter. I've read horror stories with other makes/models lines freezing and causing engine issues.

Anyone familiar with this issue running a catch can?

Looks like you asked this question a month ago, but I’ve run a catch can through two northeast winters without a problem. Only difference is the oil is more brown and foamy in the winter, maybe a little more volume.

I was torn between getting a catch can as well as I'm just north of the northern states. So I asked Derek, at IMW Tuned, if I should get one based on my location and this was his reply:

"An external catch can is honestly pointless. You'll collect condensed oil vapors and water more than anything, and introduce another possible post-MAF air leak area to occur. Don't bother with it at all. The factory PCV system is very efficient."

So I won't bother getting one now.
