I’m trying to do a big 3 on the stock alt. I can gain access to the alternator, however, when I put the 12mm socket on the bolt it just spins the black plastic piece with it. I wanted to give it a good slam, but I figured i would hold off. I can’t find any other posts or videos about it so I’m wondering if there is some sort of locking mechanism or another bolt that I’m missing.

Do you have pics of the black plastic piece that's spinning? What's the advantage of doing the big 3? Is it for sound system installs?

I googled it as well but you found a much better article than I did, thanks! I remember back in the day, doing a grounding kit in thee engine bay was a big thing. I wonder how this compares to that and if that's still a thing...
