Weird situation which is kind of hard to explain...

I've had my 2.0 Touring since February and noticed this issue not long after buying the car. I haven't had the time to take the car into the dealer but now with a recall due I may have them look at this at the same time.

I'll be sitting at a stoplight, traffic, etc., at a complete stop, transmission in drive. I'll be behind a car which has rear parking sensors in the bumper which is also completely stopped. Sporadically, my parking sensor's proximity alert will come on. In most cases, neither me nor the car in front of me moves an inch and the alarm will stop without any movement of either vehicle. Occasionally, the alert comes on and off briefly, repeatedly, in a single instance. I'm rarely stopped long enough for it to be that much of an annoyance (part of the reason I haven't made time to get to the dealer) since the traffic light changes or traffic starts moving. The one constant is it only happens when I'm behind a vehicle with parking sensors in there rear bumper, if there are no sensors in the car in front of me it never happens.

Anyone else ever notice this happening with their Accord?

This happens to me occasionally too. I just ignore it and will report to dealer the next time I am in. As another poster said, we are really just driving computers so expect a few glitches now and again.

Happens here as well. I turn it off for a few seconds and that usually takes care of it. Being a completely new body and interior design, all the kinks haven't been worked out. It will take a couple of years to fix all the issues.

Same here. It's happened to me a few times. I consider it a false alarm and just ignore it.
I too have received them and chalked it up to false alarms and ignored them.

I do pay attention to the alarms when they come from the rear if I'm stopped at an intersection. That's just to make sure I'm not about to be rear ended (as if the warning is going to give me time to react or "pucker up" ).

Thanks for the feedback everybody; happy to hear it's not just me but an apparent "feature" for the system. :) I'll bring it up to the dealer when I take it in for the backup camera recall and see if they have anything to say about it.

Yesterday, we experienced our first snow of the season on the east coast (new jersey), traffic was horrific. Throughout my slow ride home the cross traffic alert on the front passenger side singled an alert. Then a warning flashed that the radar sensor was blocked. At one point an audible alert sounded continuously with no verbal indication as to why. Extremely frustrating when your dealing with extreme traffic and alarms are going off, in some instances no indication why. At one point I had to put the car in park and restart the engine to reset the audible alerts. Yes, they haven't got all the bugs out of this system yet. Disappointing they didn't perform extensive testing in extreme weather to identify and resolve such issues.

If the parking sensor going off in inappropriate places too often you can always turn it off until you need it. That little green light just above your left knee. Problem solved.

Has anyone had any progress on the issue? I get the false alerts, sometimes even when stopped (2018 Accord Touring 2.0T), left + right, can go from no alert/bars to full on, and cycle off, sometimes pulling forward helps (but not always). Have reported it to the dealer multiple times, they indicate nothing wrong.

Not sure if I would consider it progress but I have tried to take notice of what type of vehicle are near me when I get these false alerts and majority of the time the vehicle make is the same. It is my belief that the reason for these false alerts are some type of interference/feedback from the other vehicles w/similar safety devices in the vicinity of our car's.

The issue seems to come and go at random. I took it into the dealership a year or so ago and mentioned this issue. They said they couldn't recreate it, but I had some videos of what it's doing. But they need to recreate it when they have it so they can get the code or something... IDK.

It's kind of become a new normal. As Fired00d said, it seems to happen more often than not with certain brand cars with their rear parking sensors. I think Ford is the most common car i'm behind that sets the sensors off. And it's just as you described - I'm far enough behind that i'm not risking running into the car, no warnings, then BEEP FULL RED ALERT RIGHT SIDE BEEP... then nothing... then BEEEP FULL RED ALERT RIGHT AND LEFT SIDE BEEEEP...nothing... etc.

That brand is the same I've experienced it the most with.

I too have 2018 Touring. This happens to me all the time. Happens when I am sitting at a stoplight. No cars moving but the cross-traffic indicator comes on. Usually an SUV is in front or just to the side of me. Dealer said on two separate visits that nothing can be adjusted. Can press switch to turn off all sensing and try to remember to turn it on when I start moving again.

I have a 2021 Touring and have had my front sensors going off for no reason. Dealer could not find anything wrong. But will replace all four front sensors under warranty. Lucky me, we will hope this fixes the problem.

UPDATE: 02-03-23
Four sensors replaced, dealer had the car for two days for a two hour repair. They had painted the sensors to match the car, but only two needed to match, the other two should have been black. They also screwed up the wiring for the LED H light that I put on the front grille. I will have to fix that. They said that they would fix it, but I just wented my car back. Now I will see if the replacement fixes the sensor problem.
