I’m with you! I’m not a fan at all. It barely snows in my area so this isn’t fun 😂Snow here in central Va too. Was so wishing I would have been the winner of the billion dollar lottery recently... had already looked into islands in the Caribbean.![]()
Where do you live now? I haven’t been to NoVA in forever. I used to go biweekly during the summer before Covid hit. Whenever there is snow or ice on the ground, everything shuts down here.I lived in NoVA from 76-83. I still remember listening to the radio in the mornings, hoping they would announce a closure, or at least a delay, for my school/county. I miss not having to drive an hour or two to get to snow worth messing around in...![]()
As a kid I loved snow.... snowball battles, sledding, etc., etc... Now that I'm much older the cold/snow is no longer enjoyable. Between the coldness and having to shovel snow my back lets me know that I'm no longer a spring chicken.I’m with you! I’m not a fan at all. It barely snows in my area so this isn’t fun 😂
We ended up with some snow this morning but it converted to rain. I’m ready for spring to come back around.
As much as I would like to be in warmer weather not sure I want to deal w/what you do... traffic, mudslides, fires, & earthquakes. 😬LA/So Cal...
IMO, the vast majority of negative things about CA are people-based/related/caused... getting rid of about 40-50% of our population would be great (of course I'd get to choose who falls into that 40-50%)...As much as I would like to be in warmer weather not sure I want to deal w/what you do... traffic, mudslides, fires, & earthquakes. 😬
You're correct a lot of the issues are people caused/related and the reduction of population would definitely make life much better for those that remain.... However that's likely not going to happen as more want the benefit of the sunshine/warm climate more are likely to come.IMO, the vast majority of negative things about CA are people-based/related/caused... getting rid of about 40-50% of our population would be great (of course I'd get to choose who falls into that 40-50%)...![]()
nice! I bet the weather is better than Virginia’s weather lolLA/So Cal...
lol!! I was the same! We loved the snow because everything would always shut down. We ended up with snow today but it didn’t stick. You are a good one because I will stay home until the snow melts 😂As a kid I loved snow.... snowball battles, sledding, etc., etc... Now that I'm much older the cold/snow is no longer enjoyable. Congrats on your purchase! I had my Accord for 11 months so far and I haven’t hit 7k miles yet. I love Continental tires! I’m running the Extreme Contact Pro DSW06 tires and I have to say that they are a favorite. I had them in 18 inch on my 2018 Accord and now I have them in 20 inch on this Accord.I sure wish snow were an every-few-days novelty here.
I bought my car on October 31. I got my winter tires installed on November 5 and it snowed November 7. And there's been snow on the ground ever since.
On the plus side, I really like my Continental VikingContact 7s. I ran Nokian Hakkapeliitta (Q on a '99 Mazda Protege, RSi and, later, R2s on my '07 Accord). Nokians are generally considered to be among the best in the world, but the Contis are right there, and run quieter.
Yeah, can't really complain too much about that!nice! I bet the weather is better than Virginia’s weather lol
Other than shoveling & cleaning the cars off I stay home too. I've found that's it's easer to shovel/clean snow off sidewalk/driveway/cars than letting it turn to ice after it goes thru a couple of thaw/refreeze. 😬lol!! I was the same! I miss going to Northern VA, I don’t miss the traffic. My area is more humid than how it is in NoVA. I live 10-12 mins from the oceanfront in Virginia Beach so our summers feel like 100+ degrees at times 😞😞Yeah, can't really complain too much about that!I didn't really realize it while I was in NoVA but when i went back to visit for the first time during summer of high school graduation, I found out how much more humid it was there than So Cal!

OTOH, I really miss that time and that area (south fort hunt Alexandria - it looks like google maps is calling it "north mt vernon" these days?) Just about picturesque middle class suburban America. I wish my kids could have spent some time growing up in that environment (IMO, not so easy to find here in So Cal).
I’m so bad! I did absolutely nothing. Eventually the snow melted. It may snow this week but I am hoping that it doesn’t lol.Other than shoveling & cleaning the cars off I stay home too. We had snow again yesterday... some of the flakes appeared to be big as (or bigger than) quarters. It was wet/heavy snow that turned to slush. Not much accumulation though and by the end of the day after sun came out it disappeared. However, like you mentioned forecasting more winter weather this week... guess we paying for a mild winter last year.I’m so bad! I did absolutely nothing. Eventually the snow melted. It may snow this week but I am hoping that it doesn’t lol.
I seem to remember that it was a pretty big deal to go to the beach - like let's go to VA Beach or Ocean City for the weekend or whole week kind of deal. My family wasn't really into beaches (and even now, I'm not a big beach kinda guy) I think I might have been to each place just one time the whole time I lived over there - must be nice to live 10-12 min away! (well, except for the added humidityI miss going to Northern VA, I don’t miss the traffic. My area is more humid than how it is in NoVA.
