There was some talk but haven't seen anyone actually try to swap the 7" screen for the 8" one? Does it give you Android auto with just the unit and is it plug and play? This is something that's super easy on VW's. I know that there are three connections vs two but is the cable just there and not connected, or not there and you can buy the cable?

Yea Honda’s aren’t built like they used to be. One main harness and if it doesn’t have a certain accessory it just wasn’t plugged in. Now they are vehicle specific harnesses. Not to say the harness won’t work on the two Audio units, I just mentioned the XM harness won’t be included. But the main harness might fit both audio units. I’ve never tested it out to see and we haven’t had any failed audio units to go look and check. Only time I’ve been in there was to remove dashes for rattle noises.

The main reason I would do it would be for the xm. The Android auto would be nice but the Bluetooth does everything I need. I already got a Sirius Commander to install. Was thinking since they are already going to be taking stuff apart for that and my v1 hardwired, and it was simple swap, then maybe. Not really wanting to be the tester lol.

Yea if you want XM you are gonna need to change the tuner as well.

I would not necessarily mind and aftermarket solution like that, but still want it plug and play and want to retain factory function for steering wheel control for phone ect. Problem with the factory option now is the x factor on the harness connection.

That audio unit actually keeps the functions. Check out the website

Any experience with these?

No personal experience with those but they are basically what you would get if you would buy adapters and mount plates from crutchfield. Don’t know how harmony speakers sound. Also from what I have read from other members here as far as replacing speakers running stock deck they weren’t all too impressed. When I decide to replace my speakers I will be going with something like a fix86 and amps for the highs/mids and subs.

I have read the same thing. I unlocked the secret.menu and turned off the eq and loudness and it sounds much better. No real bass but that's to be expected.
That deck is nice, alittle overkill for me but nice. I think the factory pieces would actually cost about the same. Maybe someone will be inspired by this new post and take the plunge.
