Help with some things I've noticed in my new 2020

Hi everyone!

I got a 2020 Accord Touring 2.0. I love the car but I have noticed a weird rattle on the passenger side when I hit the gas, or whenever I play music. I have emptied the glove compartment, and I can still hear it. I see some posts on it and the fixes involve doing it yourself, but has anyone actually gone to the dealer to get this fixed?

ALSO ... my oil is at 70% Ive had the car for less than a month, and I have 1,179km ... is that normal? I called Honda and booked an appointment, but my experience with the dealer has been less than satisfactory ... (with my civic when I heard a rattle they told me to turn off the subwoofer ??)

Anyway, any advise would be great.

Thanks!

Hello and welcome to the forums! Congrats on your new car purchase. I understand rattle noises can be irritating especially if it’s something obvious. I’m a Honda technician and get a lot of these come in the shop. If you look under the passenger side under the glove box and to the left, you can see your HVAC housing to your left. Try hitting the bottom of the housing with a closed fist with car off and if you hear a distinct rattle coming from your housing, I would bring it to the dealer and let them k ow you have a rattle coming from under the glove box. We have been changing out HVAC housings for those. If it doesn’t rattle I’d still suggest you bring it in. Many times I have found a bracket loose. As far as your civic, there was a bulletin to address the rear deck rattling. We would remove and apply EPT on the bottom to keep the deck lid from making noise. Hope you get this resolved.

Thank you very much!!! I will give it a light punch tomorrow LOL ... and will deff bring it up, its really annoying, specially since its on all the time, when I leave a light, or anytime I give the car any gas, I thought someone left a coin on the passenger door ?

Again thanks for the help!
Hi , glad to talk to a honda tech, has there been any common complaints about sunroof rattling when opened? Its winter now, cant really test, but I had a rattling which can be replicated by pushing onto (aluminum?) frame into the rear . It was REALLY annoying this past summer. 2019 touring.

I believe I remember in one of your previous posts you have added the moonroof visor... if so are you sure the rattle/noise isn't coming from that? Reason I mention is I have the visor installed and at interstate speeds (above 60/65) I get some rattle/noise coming from mine. I have noticed that my visor will not tighten (I have some back/forth movement) and I'm thinking air/turbulence is getting under it at higher speeds causing it to move creating the rattle/noise. One other thing I noticed is the distance from the visor to the roof isn't consistent all the way across the roof.... as you get to the middle of the roof the visor is closer to the roof. I haven't had it back to the dealer to have the look at this as I'm waiting for when I need to have it in for oil change/tire rotation.

One other thing I have found when researching this issue is there are two different visors that will fit our car...

Moonroof Visor P/N 08R01-TVA-100 $129.00 (MSRP)

Moonroof Visor P/N 08RO1-TVA-101 $139.00 (MSRP)

I'm positive that the visor on my car is the *-100 P/N due to the price that I had documented from Honda website when I was building my car. I'm wondering if the *-101 is a better fit/sturdier one then what I have and would eliminate the noise/rattles.

Thats a good point, in the spring I will remove the visor to see if it changes, but like I said, the actual noise is coming from this aluminum piece into the REAR of the sunroof ( backside of the car) . Can replicate the sound by pushing into it.
PS, I also have 08R01-TVA-100 , paid $85 last year

Your issue may not be exact as mine but could still be caused by the visor creating turbulence when roof is open. Will be interested in what you find out come spring. Myself I rarely have my sunroof open and what I'm hearing is with it closed... if I tilt the rear or open roof some the rattle/noise will stop leading me to believe it's turbulence related either by the movement of the visor or the difference in the gap from sides to center of roof to visor.

no known issues with any rattling near or around the sun roof area sorry. Out of all the years I’ve worked on Honda’s the only rattle I’ve had up near sunroof area was on a fit that didn’t have a sunroof and had a counterweight right before the windshield that was rattling.
All my Old Honda rattling tends to be related to Heat Shielding under the car. On my old 98 Civic, I had a friend of mine just cut them all off lol Never had a rattle again.

I not so sure what they were meant to shield against, but that car never had any issues that I could relate to removing them. It hasn't been able to run for many years, but that is due to something else that we are currently trying to trouble shoot.
