Honda Accord Hybrid vs Tesla Model 3

Hey guys, I'm looking to buy my very first car and looking at a 2021 Honda Accord Hybrid vs. a 2021 Model 3 Standard Range plus. The honda is costing me about 33k and I'd happily switch to the Long range Tesla with a 353 mile range if I get approved for the CVAP 5k grant in CA state that will help me afford the LR. My biggest concern is range since my daily commute will be about 150 miles round trip and I'm having range anxiety with a Tesla. The last thing I'd want to worry about after spending about 40k (for SR+) on a car is range, which the SR+ offers a range of 263 miles. Apart from that, the Honda comes with Level 2 autonomous driving and a few other significant features that a Tesla offers that I'm interested in (spacious, leather seats with heating, pre-ventilation, etc.). The honda also has a rated range of 613 miles. What are your guys' opinions on this? Do you guys own a Tesla? Greatly appreciate your help!

Disclaimer - I don't own a Tesla or a hybrid Accord.

If you got a Tesla, have you already figured out how, where, and when would you recharge it? Would you have another vehicle for long, off grid, or spontaneous trips?

Like @Samuelx I don't own a hybrid or Tesla but he brings up some good points. IMO until a nationwide fast charging grid is established Tesla's are for short/local use only. At this time they would make a great second daily driver for that type of use.

I would not give you a dollar for a Tesla. Bumpers, roofs, suspensions, all just falling apart on new cars and their service is horrendous. Dont forget about the random fires as well. Musk admits to the horrible quality of them in an interview yesterday. This has nothing to do with me owning a hybrid. Have this view from being in the auto biz whole life. Maybe in 10 years when hes gone and their quality control/service improves. BMW makes the i3 in that price range nice car. Hyundai makes a slew of electrics. Vw has the eGolf and id3 coming.

i HAD a 150mi commute. purchased the 2019 HAH EX-L. i'm in the NYC area. pre-'Rona with congestion, 90% highway bit congestion such that average mph was 38....

my MPG ranged from 46-64. low end was in January..17 degrees in morning, 24 degrees in evening. once temp was north of 40, mileage in low-mid 50's, above 50 degrees high 50's mpg. especially when winter fuel wasn't in effect....

i considered the M3 SR but there wasn't a charger at work. if there was i'd probably go for it. re quality issues, i'm not sure it's as bad as some people make it out to be as there are a lot of EV bashers out there....

MIT has a calculator to assess cost factor of Hybrud v EV v Gas. you enter a bunch of assumptions and it tells you total cost of ownership over time. i now no longer have to commute...

DO NOT BUY THE HYBRID!! This is my third and last accord. Awful roaring noise related to the active noise canceling system. Can't be fixed, won't be fixed. The first chance I get I am selling mine. Google roaring noise 52 mph and accord hybrid.

Can very easily be fixed by unplugging the anc which you have to do if you add a subwoofer anyways. Make virtually no difference in cabin noise.

Honda has refused to repair it for 2.5 years. Where do I get that done without losing my Bluetooth microphone. Would love this fix.

I did it myself when installing sub but it takes 10 min to do. Just about any shop or person with slight mechanic knowledge could help.

Tesla cars are really impressive. However, I would stay with Honda. We’re talking about a company with a lot of history against a company that was recently made.
