Just want to give you guys a head ups that my 2018 Honda Accord EX-L 2.0, AC system is leaking freon at 46,000miles/ 3 years old. I’ve been researching and I’m sure it’s the AC Condenser which is a common problem but Honda refuse to fix it unless it’s a Honda Civic, I put some freon in and the system blow out cold air so the compressor is working fine, the freon pressure did drop after a few weeks so it is a low leak in the AC Condenser.
I bought the car brand new. It’s a disappointment since I’ve always own a honda throughout my driving years and this is one of the worse low quality car I’ve ever driven. I called the dealer and they quoted me $400 for AC diagnostic test, and to replace the AC condenser it’s $800, plus $300 to recharge the AC system. So basically around $2000 with tax on a 3 years old AC system in Illinois which only gets hot 3 months out of the year. I’ve always been a honda guy but will never buy a honda again when this car crap out and I’m sure something will go wrong soon since the quality is so bad.

Do I get it fix and then call them? Or call them first?

Unrelated to your issue but I have a 2018 with just under 19,000 miles and the camshaft seal is leaking. The dealer won’t cover it. They want around $320 to fix it. The cost is not going to break the bank but the car is too young for an issue like this I would think. I’ve never dealt with this type of issue on a car before.

You'd be surprised what kind of issues you find with a vehicle that has lower mileage. I would call it uncommon and can definitely happen to any part, any mileage at anytime.

Called Honda and they don’t give a crap lol This will be my last Honda for me.
I was looking up the AC condenser part for 2018-2020 Honda Accord to replace it myself and they all say “Discontinued” so they must have find the defect and discontinue it 😂 I even called the dealership asking to buy the condenser and they said it’s discontinued.

That sucks!!

Was this the part you were looking up - 80100-TVA-A01 Condenser Assembly?

Might be worth a call to them before placing the order. If that part has been discontinued you wouldn't (at least I wouldn't) want to get it... it being discontinued would lead me to believe it might be a problem with that part.

If they discontinued a part it was likely because of a design issue. So that would be Honda maintaining their quality. There has to be another version of the part being developed. I believe there are consumer protection laws that require manufacturers to maintain replacement parts for at least ten years after the release of a vehicle or final model year.

UPDATE:
So I took my car in and get the AC fix anyway. It was a service manager that talked to me this time. I told him AC blowing warm air and I look up that the AC condenser was defective on these models. He quoted me $450 to fill the AC system with freon and add dye to see where the leak was which was expected. Fast forward 5 hours, the service manager called me and said “yea ac condenser leaking everywhere, but it is still under extended warranty since all the ac condensers from 2018 are defective.”

So in short, Honda pulled through and foot the $2000 bill and regain my trust in the company. Lol

That's great to hear glad Honda stepped up and did the right thing. In my mind it was a no brainer since there was issues w/condensers in other models and they had discontinued the original part for the Accord's.
