Hey guys, still breaking in the new Accord 2.0t but I'm looking at the hondata flash pro, and it says carb pending, not sure what that means. The cost is about 500$ for the unit, is this sufficient to upload the stage 1, 2 or 3 tunes? What flash pro do you have? And how much did it cost you?

Thanks in advance

CARB is California Air Resources Board. Became the basis for the emission rules for the entire country several years ago.
There are a couple owners on here who already have the Hondata tune installed. I believe that the cost was just under $500 for a stage 3 set up.
I like that Hondata is jumping on this platform relatively quickly. I am going to find a tuner to clean up the maps however...I've never been a fan of off the shelf tunes.

Curious to see where you guys are finding a FlashPro for $500...they normally are priced at $695.
The CARB version is finished (March 2018) Basically the CA version of the Flash Pro will only load the few California maps available. The Hondata Flash Pro is $695 plus S&H. Mine came in at: $714. Honda deliberately "detunes" this engine so they can warranty it for 3/36 safely. The OEM turbo unit is adequate for this engine in stock form but is less dependable for longevity as you add more boost.

Are you able to datalog with the CARB version of the FlashPro?

You made an excellent choice going with ktuner

Does KTuner have canned maps...or did you have someone tune the car?

Ktuner has basemaps, and if you want to tinker or make quick adjustments like throttle response or turbo response you can.

I wish Vit was still taking new tuning clients...I'd love to see what he can do with the Accord.

Have you datalogged the base maps to see what the car is doing? I'm just curious to see how aggressive the base maps are (AFR, timing, etc.).

I'm currently running KTuner and everything is spot on!!! They have crushed it on all these new Factory turbo Honda's!!!
Do you have to put your car on a dyno with you do the flash pro? Sorry, noon question, but I have a guy who wants to sell me his used flash pro that he had on his Accord 2018 2.0 turbo for 600$. He says that it is unlocked and that I could just use the file from his dyno. Seems risky to just save 100$ on cost of flash pro. I can justify spending 695$ on flash pro, just hard for me to want to spend another 600$ on a dyno...especially when I'm just looking at a stage 1.

Hondata itself provides a Stage 1 flash (along w/other stage flashes)... however w/no two engines exactly alike some op for a dyno tune to get the optimum/maximum TQ/HP A/F ratio & other parameters out of their engine. If I weren't getting a dyno tune I'd op for the Hondata Stage 1 flash vs the flash from someone that has their car dyno tuned (that file) would provide. Also I would be concerned about it being "unlocked" that you would no longer have support from Hondata and the concern of during the "unlocking" procedure was any damage done to the unit. Spending that much for a "used/unlocked" unit I would spend the extra $100 and purchase new. JMHO
