How long does it take to change the oil and use a good oil?

862 Views 2 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  Twas A Still Night
I'm preparing the car for the first oil change But I don't know if my car has had to change the oil or not. I just received a Valvoline discount code, but I don't know if it's available or not. Since I have never used the service, I don't know if their quality and service is good. I have no experience so I hope someone can help me and share my experience.
Thank you

Your statement above is confusing me... you say you are preparing your car for the first oil change but you don't know if the car has had an oil change or not. Are you not the original owner... and how many miles are on the car?

As for the "quality of service" at this particular shop it's dependent on the technicians doing the job. Oil changes are a simple job but even simple jobs can be screwed up by a careless tech.
Also, a bit confused here. Oil changes should take an experienced tech about 30 minutes max. If you're talking about doing it yourself maybe an hour max, if you have an adequate idea of what you are doing.

If you doing it yourself you need the oil and need a new oil filter. Sounds like your going to Valvoline, you just drive in the garage and they do it real quick. Easy process. Valvoline will do the job just fine, they're usually quick and these techs do 50+ oil changes a day, don't let them sell you on overpriced products like the air filter and wipers they're going to offer you.
