Hi! Welcome to the club! I'm a newbie too. I am in Georgia too. I'm not a pilot but I live less than a mile from Moody AFB in south GA. At 2200 every night, I can hear Taps playing from the sound system. I didn't think I'd ever get used to the sound of the A-10's firing during training or the occasional F-16 and C-130 flying over my house but it has become a very welcome sound.
My step-father is a jet engine mechanic retired USAF but now is a civilian contractor. He mostly works on the trainer T-38 Talon though.
