Infotainment radio issue

11642 Views 8 Replies 5 Participants Last post by  BoostedAccord
I have a 2018 Honda Accord Touring. I can not play my I-Phone 8 via connection to USB one or two connections. The phone will charge but when I try to listen to I Heart radio or Amazon music, the screen says no device is connected. I have tried other cords but I get the same result. Any ideas?
Is there a way to reboot the radio I am missing. Phone is new. Thanks, fhw

I pulled this from the site https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT205634:

  1. Make sure that Siri is turned on.
  2. Restart your iPhone and your car. Depending on your car, you might see the CarPlay Home screen when you turn it on. If you don't, look for the CarPlay logo on your car’s display.
  3. If possible, connect your iPhone to a different USB port in your car.
  4. Try a different Lightning to USB cable. Make sure that the cable is certified.
  5. Update to the latest version of iOS.
  6. Check your car’s manual for help. You might need to install firmware updates for your stereo.

Thank you! Will give it a try.
Here is an discussion on this. Seems to be a global issue with Honda and Apple right now.

Some people are able to do a workaround for temporarily.

Weird. I would just copy and paste it to URL then.
Here's one helpful answer for the carplay stopping problem on that site:
I was originally going to do the hard reset as suggested by ddugas1970 but I found a ”Factory Data Reset” in the Infotainment Center under Settings, System. I took a chance and it worked. Took about 5 minutes to complete and afterwards I had to reset some of my personal settings like radio stations, door lock preference, etc. Like ddugas1970 don’t know how long it will last. I believe that the bug sits with Honda and that sooner or later a fix will be applied. I will let you know if I uncover anything else that can help.
Not sure what else that would reset, but it seems t be working well for that person.
@fwhite did the factory data reset end up working? I'm wondering if the Apple iOS is just having problems with Honda systems in general and not just the Accord. May need to wait for the next iOS update or systems update from Honda if the reset doesn't work.
Some people I know suggest to disconnect the battery after doing resets like this, even before. For some older cars it seems to work but i'm not sure about these newer ones.
