Guys, I need advice. I have been to the dealer two times now for this intermittent issue, and both times they claim to have heard nothing, but "made everything tight" . They claim that Honda will not authorize any replacement parts unless THEY hear the noise in person. The problem comes and goes, and I cant pinpoint what conditions create the problem. Temperature, day or night, it all seems to be random. The same ticking noise can be reproduced INTERMITTENTLY by pushing down inside the rear of the sunroof, on the drip pan. Both sides make a clicking noise. I have a sunroof wind deflector, but the noise occurs with the sunroof open OR closed.

Within 30 minutes of their 1st failed attempt, I immediately recorded it with my cell phone. I uploaded the videos to youtube so that the dealer rep can know that they did NOT fix the problem. Here are the 1st two videos. in #2 I demonstrate the pushing on the drip pan to create the noise.
1)
- in my driveway
2)
- pushing on drip pan

So we schedule another repair, and again, they refuse to order replacement parts, and tell me again, that they " tightened everything up " , Once again , they failed to fix the problem, and I recorded new videos.

3)
Again in my driveway
4)
On the road

I cannot believe the struggle that I am experiencing considering that I have pinpointed the exact location of this problem. Is it possible that this is a widespread problem , without a fix, and Honda is purposefully giving me the runaround? Or has COVID done so much damage to their business that they are refusing replacement parts? It is completely unacceptable that I am expected to just live with this noise for years to come.

Car is a 2019 Accord Touring , just 12,000 miles.

Thank you for the info. I have opened a claim, I missed their call, and never called me back , even after I left several messages. I am getting a feeling that its the corporation at fault here. Im going to try to contact them again on Monday.

I don't know what state you are in, but would the Lemon Law be applicable/helpful?

My goodness. That is annoying, and you have gone above and beyond in supplying the dealer with very well made videos, where you can hear specifically what you are talking about.

Good luck.

So last week I opened a case, it took her almost a week to return my call. Honda refuses to authorize replacement parts for this issue, even though I pinpointed EXACTLY where the noise is coming from. They refuse to allow my dealer to make the repair until someone rides with me and hears it themselves. So I have to schedule this absurd ride-along and hope that this intermittent issue actually happens during that time! This was the most ridiculous conversation Ive ever had in my life, and the worst customer service Ive ever experienced.

If anyone has any corporate contacts that can help, please let me know.

I have a 2018 Sport 6M; 50K miles. First two months had intermittent rattle in sun roof. Brought to dealer; they completed installation of these clips not done at assembly plant, problem fixed.
What clips.... did you mean to add an attachment/picture? Nothing is showing.

Good Video Description : Honda Dealer should be able to Deal with that . .

I Beef with Sun-Roof is to Heavy , to , HOT

Honda Please Add an ~ Optional - Delete ~ and Save Us $900 Bucks on Models , If We choose to NOT want Sun Roof ..

In My Book it just makes Car have a Higher Center of Gravity , plus Creates this Very Hot Roof ..

In South in morning 72 Degree's 9:am Rook is 88 Degrees ..

Then @ 12:00 Noon 88 Degrees and Roof is 140 Degrees - it like a Window to Oven Door which is on & Cooking a Pizza !

Please Allow Customers to Press the Delete Button and Save min. $900 bucks as these Roof's are Normally $1100 Bucks . .

Can you please share name of those clips. This rattle noise drives me crazy
I asked the same question when @CRUNCHER posted that and never got a response. Try looking at this link "Sunroof" and then your car to see if you notice any clips missing.

...I'm having exactly the same problem. I will use your recording, and I will record it myself, for demonstrating to the dealership. Question: is your sunroof wind deflector still in place when you experience the problem? I removed mine long ago because it created so much extra noise when traveling down the highway. (There's much less wind noise when it's removed.) When I went to the dealership to get the "guiger counter" rattling noise addressed, they said they couldn't investigate due to the missing wind deflector, as it's absence nullifies the warranty. They said the sunroof rides up on the wind deflector mechanism when closing, creating (possibly) a loosening of the sunroof in the closed position.

I don't think this is the cause of the problem, but I've re-installed the wind deflector, a) to see if the guiger counter noise disappears, and b) so the dealership will be willing to investigate further if the guiger counter noise is still present with the wind deflector in place.

I believe, in one of your very helpful video recordings, that I see your wind deflector still in place. But what can you tell me?
