Hello I just became a Honda Family member this past weekend. Picked up a Black Honda Accord Sport 1.5
I have an IPod classic bought it new and has been my baby for the better part of 13 years. I've spent countless hours adding music and sorting it out manually. Well it looks like some of the new cars have trouble reading the IPod classic because I can play it in other cars fine like a 2016 Jeep Cherokee a 2019 KIA Sorento. When I say fine I mean it plays well, shows you the album cover, sounds well, I can navigate it using the screen by going to artists, playlists, genres etc. etc.
But I'm having trouble playing it in my Accord. I plug it in, it connects and it plays.
Sometimes it plays fine my whole commute to work. Sometimes it'll just stop sounding. Meaning I can see the song is playing because the little round dot is moving along the screen and time is elapsing but there's no sound. My 32 pin USB connector is brand new I purchased it about a month ago.
Where it really get's stuck is when I'm playing music from one of my playlists and I want to go and change playlist. I'll go Browse > Playlists and then it says Loading but then no playlists appear. It'll just be blank and Loading message will disappear. I then exit out of that screen. Then do it again 2 or 3 times until finally my playlists come up. But then I try to change playlists and it won't let me it stays in the same playlist even after I chose a different playlist. For example; I'll be on my playlist titled The Hits listening a song on that playlist. Then I'll go to Browse > Playlists and get it to show my playlists after a few attempts;
The Hits
Mood Music
Alternative
Hip Hop
I'll tap on say Alternative music the 1st song and it'll play the 1st song on The Hits (which is the playlist I was on originally) instead of playing the 1st song in my Alternative music playlist.

This is just a bit of extra info. my girlfriend has a 2019 Audi A3 and the IPod Classic doesn't even play on there using the 32 pin USB when you connect it, it doesn't even read it. You can only play it via AUX which sucks.
It also comes with it's own set of cables if you want to connect any devices like an 8 pin cable and a mini USB cable. She has an IPod Touch which is newer than the one I have so I'm going to connect her IPod in my car and see what happens. It might just be time for me to get a newer version of the IPod Classic.

All right so I've been experimenting these past few days and it's definitely the iPod.
For some reason it has issues navigating through it. Which really sucks because this iPod is my baby.
I've connected various other iPod's such as iPod Touch, iPod Classic 6th generation which are the newer versions of the one I have. I have a iPod Classic 4th generation.
When I connected the other iPod's with just about less than a minute from connecting them I was able to easily navigate through playlists, songs, genres, artists back and forth with ease.

I purchased an iPod Touch (6th gen) and it's been working fine. Yeah, the Classic is not on the list. I have a 3rd gen iPod (4gig) in my 2011 Accord. Still works and is kicking! The car got passed down to my Parents (with the iPod! lol)
And there it is... Thank you.
I just sold a few things on offer up and came up on some cash to buy a newer iPod Classic I'm looking at the 160GB from 2009.
