New engine

What do you guys think about Accord's new 1.5T Touring engine? In my opinion, that's a great innovation for Accord. Some say that 1.5L is too small for Accord, but if you look at the vehicle weight (1,500 kg) you will find that it is more than enough. The engine is turbocharged, sufficiently producing 192 horsepower and the exact same number of torque. It should be an efficient little beast, especially mated to the continuously variable transmission.

We'er starting to move away from the bigger is better mindset and the 1.5 liters is plenty peppy. And there's of course the engine's fuel economy rating will appeal to a buyer's frugal side.
Pretty good compression ratios too (10.3:1) and you get direct fuel injection, and a VTEC variable valve-timing system.
The 1.5-liter may be small, but that's enough to give the Accord a peppy feel and it has a 10.3:1 compression ratio, direct fuel injection, and VTEC variable valve-timing system. Of course the deal maker is its fuel economy and that'll appeal to the more frugal buyers. i.e. me!

As long as we're able to get some decent power and torque to the wheels without having to use premium fuel then I will like this engine but for now more research needs to be done on what's possible.
I have the Touring 1.5T and it has plenty of power for my needs. I have not yet driven it in hilly terrain and will reserve judgement for then - but thus far no complaints. The CVT takes a little time to get used to it.

sometimes it a matter of you getting behind the wheel and figuring out if the amount of effort needed is too much or too little for you.
not always is some journalist or other owner take on a car performance a clear cut answer.
Anyone had this problem 2018 sport 1.5 car doesn't get out off 1st gear and transmission slips happened couple time turned car off and on went back to normal but the other day it happened again this Time warning came up saying "collison migration breaking system problem see dealer" have only 5000km
We have heard of problems with the ACC (automatic cruise control), that displayed a similar message about an error with the braking system. Not sure if the issue was ever rectified. Is that warning still on your display or has it reset again?
I drove both the 1.5 and 2.0 when I was going to purchase my Accord. I was genuinely surprised by how well the 1.5 responded to throttle inputs and was even more surprised by the CVT and how little it felt like a CVT. I think for someone looking for a solid car with good passing power, the 1.5 will do just fine. Honda is getting a lot out of these small displacement motors.

I Agree the 1.5 is Pretty Dam Good .
Worked on a Lot of Snowmobiles - so the Short Story of the CVT - looking like one of those to Me ..
I asked Honda _ Dealer several to Give Me some Details , a Cut Away - some Engineering Spec's = Etc. , Etc ..
I Got Know Where - Fast ..
The 10 Speed had 1000 Lb Towing , so being Old School - I decided to Go with that .. MPG on the 1.5T and Simpleness - may prove to be Long Term Survivor .

So Far the 10 Speed has been very Pleasant and I Pushed Hard at the Dragon - ( Well Not Super Hard ) - I didn't Notice , Any Extra Heat , No Smells of Paint or other Items Cooking Off .. Only have 300 miles ..
so Bed the Brakes Today & Seated the Rings - Everything Got good and Warm .. after 1 mile cool down - Pulled into Rest Stop . ( Felt the Rims ) 120-125 Degrees in Front .. .
Mostly Hard on Brakes & Tires . . Only few Times - I did Sport Mode - which - Really is Super on Trail of the Dragon .

Here's the Spark Plugs - Not Running NGK's R Plugs .

Running these : NGK - DILKAR8P8SY Medium Heat Range , Believe these are Iridium - which is very good material for Spark Plugs
Most Turbo's run some sort of this Type .. I do Remember Thou when all they had were the Platinum's which had to be Changed every 20K . .
Seeing We can't Edit after 3 min. this is going to lead to Bits if Information in many Area's - This looks to be an attempt to Record Higher Post .
Unfortunately it will lead to Important Information being Spread out & Harder to Find . ( Admin )
OEM

Laser Iridium Spark Plug - Means : Centre Electrode : Iridium tip , Ground Electrode : Platinum pad/chip , Service Life ** 100,000 kms

Pictures are for Those - Tuning - Checking & Thinking about Heat Ranges ..

Only Thing I see is that ( Platinum Pad ) Area - I'm Not sure How Far I would Trust That - Welding . .

Personal Note : I'd be Checking - Cly Temps - Head Temps - Turbo Temps and Even Coolant Temps with IR Gun - Before / After Tuning - "Record all Readings"

After Looking @ Several Items : I Just NOT Sure How much Head Room there is Built into Design ..of Honda's Engine Bay . . sort of Speak .

Oh, also would like to Ask any Honda Tech's or Other that Know Honda - a lot have Accesses to Honda Mechanic Manuals or Tech Manuals - sure would like to see what they
Do for Pulling the Turbo .
Pulling Plugs - I should be able to Hack that ..
Pulling Stock Cat - DP - might be some other Items in Way We all need to see ..

Possibly Instruction for Installing - these New Down Pipes - should be coming from Makers of the DP's
Re-Guarding - Oil Dilution on the 1.5T - I Know VW had an Issue with DI Injection with the Higher Compression and ended up lowering the Compression .3 I Believe It was a few Yrs. ago ..

Certainly If Honda had Given the Under Hood Treatment of 1.5T - Say like a Red Engine Cover or Coil Packs something Special Not so Plain Cheap looking ..
Even Larger Engine Cover to Retain Heat - seeing there Spec's say that Motor has more Coolant Capacity , well only about 1 Qrt. according to Honda ?_?

It Could be Boost Ramps Up to Quick when Cold .. needs a longer warm up mode .. Extra 1 Qrt. Coolant ?
Need to Dial Back the Fan Speed still Oil is Warmed Up . . .

Still Say Gauges - like Oil Temp & Boost - really - Catch Buyers Eyes Nicer Engine Cover etc. -- Hint Hint - Honda ..
I think the 1.5T is amazing... I had my doubts about it when shopping for a new car (Between a Camry and the Accord)... very responsive - no turbo lag that I could feel... car really moves in Sport mode. Recently we took the first long trip (600 miles) and averaged 41 MPG round trip in Econ mode. Never went past 70 MPH...
Nice Mpg .. Way Sportier then the Toyota , Keep Track on Oil consumption - I have High Under Hood Temps , If You saw My Other - Post ..

Well at Least I Think these Temps are Higher then needed .. for Efficiency . 3-4 min. to get set up in other driveway and sat there while I took off the Under Trays etc .
The Trans already felt 112 Degrees - That's Fast - Not the Engine Oil which Pan felt like 90-95 degrees . . just backed from one driveway to the other and Onto Ramps .. some Idling ..
setting up ..
Oil Consumption Down to Zero 4000 Miles on Original Oil , as I Topped off with 3 Oz before Leaving , and still @ same Point 1400 miles Later
and Ran it pretty Hard at Times .. did get a long pull with Big Tesla from 72 to XXX +25 I got small Jump as We bother were edging up , but when the Down Shift came He Floored it ..

Got out to 3 Car Lengths say in 400 ft . then T stared reeling Me in over the next 700 ft. on My back Door at around 1450 ft mark . . ~ Had to Lift . . We Were All Big Smiles . .
Those Cars weight like 5K and have Huge Tires , but I had two persons and Bags .. Cheap Fuel , but Temps were 57 Degrees . .

( Long Legs on Turbos ) on the Super Slabs . .
Hot Doggin the Super Slab

My Mpg fell off a lot after the 2.3 Turbo Mustang and the IS350 also , which was like over 45 miles Rock & Roll ,
I ended up with Official 32.8 Mpg for 715 miles .. & even thou were at 800 ft Latitude it takes several Mountains which are High to get back Home from Zero @ Ocean ..
We are in a Valley so Green . .

I Must have seen a few from this Forum as I had seen 3 White 2018 Accords on Saturday 10th . . 1 Gray & 1 Blue few Days before ..

I was just Searching around Notice a Spark Plug Update listed for this by
NGK Plug DILKAR7G11GS - WHICH Simple looks like a Marketing (( Price Increase )) as Spec's Same - except Heat Range is 7
Spec's Honda Plug seem to be Heat Range 8 . . from everything I looked @ Yet all Info out in Internet world has some Conflicts ( Best to Call NGK )
Speak with Tech Support as all Parts Places have No Freaking Idea what They are Selling . .

What I do like are for Tuned Motors with Mods - would be NGK - LKAR8BHX which Fit another Motor , but have Same Spec's Except for

Electrode Design : PSPE - see Picture , but Claim to be Faster . . do to Exposed - Open Electrode Tip
