Recently bought a 2018 2.0, came from a 16 Silverado 1500 but missed my acura tsx so bad it didnt take long to switch back. Questions are how are the bolt ons ,intake, exhaust etc doing with the mpg, one of the main reasons I went back to the car was to get the mpg so dont wanna mess with it too much. Also has anyone had any issues from the dealerships about warranty comments. I know usually if you replace say an exhaust then you just void the exhaust warranty, wasnt sure if they are going to be more strict with the new turbo engine if we started doing bolt ons or tunes. Also considering the prl intake, prl informed me in August there will be news about the stage 2. Is this worth waiting for in your opinions or should I just go with stage 1. Thanks for all the answers

  1. I haven't done any bolt ons yet so i cant give input on the MPG
  2. from what i understand about the warranties, any modifications to the engines performance will void it. if you're wanting to keep the warranty, don't mod it until the warranty is up.
  3. I would wait for the stage 2 intake

a lot of aftermarket performance parts are still in R&D, I'm figuring by the time my warranty is up there will be a better selection of mods to do. I am planning on doing full bolt ons after the warranty.

I'm like @PlasmaGel too.... no aftermarket mods done on my car either. Manufacturer's have gotten real picky when it comes to voiding a warranty and will look for any reason (non OEM part) to void it. With this being a new generation my thought is to give it time to work out all the OEM bugs before introducing a reason for them to say something other than OEM caused it. Also with this being a new generation the R&D of aftermarket modifications are on going I'd rather wait and allow all the bugs of their R&D to be worked out too. Can't remember off hand which tuner (Hondata/KTuner) had an issue with one of their tunes causing a problem at high(er) elevations.

I don’t like the wording vendors are using for “stages”. This is what I’m used to the “stages” being....

Stage 1 tune only
Stage 2 tune + downpipe (intake optional for any tune)
Stage 3 tune, DP, intercooler misc. bolt one optional
Stage 4 tune, CTR Turbo, DP, supporting mods

Yes, it’s onLy semantics, but have a high tq and lower tq stage 1 for those worried about clutch or 10A trans.

Thanks for listening to the rant....
