Parking Sensor Issues

Hey everyone, wanted to know if anyone else was having issues with their parking sensors. They were standard with the Touring Trim I have. They seem to work when approaching something (distance shown getting closer and closer), however the frequency at which they randomly go off doesn't inspire confidence. Some examples:

- When putting the car into reverse, it seems to automatically start beeping wildly even when I can see there is nothing even close to the car.

- Sitting in traffic, one (sometimes both) of the front side parking sensors will randomly go off. Sometimes when a car may have moved around a front corner, other times with no movement they just go off. I've read somewhere that the sensors might get confused with other cars parking sensors, but not sure. I've tried to get a video of it happening to show the dealer but its so random I don't have enough time to get one.

Wondering if the sensors have been more reliable for others. I am in a cold weather climate (MN) but the car does not have snow/ice on it. Maybe road grime and salt?

Thanks!

This was discussed in this thread - False-positive parking sensors alert due to sensors on vehicle in front. If you have accumulated road grime or salt on the sensors this may be the reason for (some of) your false alerts, however I'm anal about keeping my car clean and have had the false alarms and I know for a fact there is nothing on the sensors.

Mine is 2017 civic RS. My parking sensor has the same problem like yours. Mine goes off when I reduce the speed during the driving, turn directions goes off, stopped with engine on goes off, the dealer change a new one , 2 months later, the same issue happened. Last week I went to the dealer again, they reset my car, now the parking sensor doesn’t work when I reverse. People stand behind my car , no warning! The safety sensor made me crasy. It seems the Honda technology problem, I am looking for somewhere to complain and deal with it. It really sucks.

It not working at all now to me would be a "safety" issue. Honda did a recall on the rear view camera's when they weren't displaying correctly and could cause a crash (Rearview Image Display Failure). This sensor not working IMO would be a safety issue just like the camera not working correctly.

If your dealer/s are unable to correct it or neglect to correct it contact Honda Corporate.
