I wonder if Hondata's maps will be able to compensate for a catless setup. Will be interesting to see how the car responds to a downpipe...maybe it's time to price out that Type R turbo.

Awesome! Glad to see that aftermarket support is beginning to pick up. And I think traditionally you can expect anywhere between 5-10hp gain with a downpipe, and around 15lb-ft of torque. Also depends on what other mods you're running.

The other side benefit will be much quicker spool up, not that there is much lag with this car to begin with.

So is the type R turbo exhaust side bolt pattern the same as ours?

This I do not know. There is a thread that talks about the differences between the two engines and I can't recall if the head castings are different.
