I was thinking of taping the power source there as well for my front dash cam. There is switched power in the map lights too. and the access seams simple, just a few screws. I would like to avoid touching the Honda Sense cameraHas anyone used the lane departure to pull power from for a radar detector? I know I saw a video somewhere of how to remove that cover but I cannot find it now.
You do need pry tools for the map light clear covers. once removed you can get to the screws that hold the unit in place. I just replaced the bulbs with LEDs so its still fresh in my mind I didnt actualy remove the box so not sure on what wire options are behind.I should have booked mark the darn video because that is exactly what he is was installing. I just can't remember if it was the map light or the sensing. I think it was the sensing because I remember him mentioning the use of a pry tool which you wouldn't need for the map lights. Once exposed I think there was a green lead and white or brown lead. Only two leads to work with but it seemed to work fine. I like your idea of not messing with the honda sensing. I have the wires and everything else I just haven't had time to pull the covers off. I'll let you know what I find out when I do it.
