So, I just got off waiting a LONG time for a Tirerack tire specialist. I told him my story that my 2018 Accord Sport 2.0T has 51,600 miles on it on the stock all season tires. Next spring, I'll need new tires... I told him what kind of driving I do, that I'm a gearhead etc... He suggested 2 options: https://www.tirerack.com/tires/tire...=2018&autoModel=Accord 2.0T&autoModClar=Sport

He said the continentals are definitely better. Both tires are rated for 50,000 tread wear which I need. I drive a lot.. My work commute is an hour both ways etc. On my older 2014 Civic Si, i had the Continental DWS06 tires - just not the SAME exact tire that he is recommending though. What does everyone here think though? Thanks for all of the help and suggestions! Obviously due to COVID, working from home last year, my OEM all season tires lasted WAY LONGER than they normally would which is really nice!

Better in what aspect. According to tyrax own ratings they're about equal. I currently run DWSO6 now. It's the first time I've run continentals. I usually prefer michelins. I will say that DWS is a good tire, but the pilot sport 4's are a harder compound. I don't like how soft these tires are compared to the michelins. To compensate I'm putting 40 PSI in them, and that's with two pairs one on my vehicle and one of my girls. The other thing I don't like is they tend to skip before they grip for some reason. Both are good tires, and you can't go wrong with either.

Tirerack specialist said in regards to tread wear and quality of tire. In general, they didn't mention which had a harder rubber compound. The guy seemed not very helpful and not really wanting to help me. Right now with my stock all season tires, for better handling I pump them up to 40 psi. Yeah, he said that either or tires are good. I'm not sure which one to get. I was leaning towards the DWS06 tires bit still not sure. Now that you said that haha. I don't think it ties until the springtime, but figured I'd start researching it anyways now.

The reason I stopped using michelins is because of their price went through the roof. I drive a lot of miles right now so the Continentals make more sense for me. The michelins are about $100 more a tire which is a lot.

Yeah, you're absolutely right. The michelin's are about $100 more expensive per tire. That brings a total cost of four tires up a little past $1,000. Versus the continental extreme contact DWS 06 plus tires for set of floor are at 800 something dollars which is not bad.

Exactly. And I bought two sets of the same time for both cars. The Conte's are really good, yes the compound is a little softer, and there's that weird slip before they grip thing, but overall I really like them. They handle well and I've compensated for the wear with the extra pressure. I drove the first few thousand miles with both cars having 38 PSI and I didn't like the way the edges of the tread looked, so I went up to 40 PSI at that point and it seems so solved the issue. But my favorite tire is still Michelin pilot super sports. They really are a phenomenal tire with little or no equal. They were designed for Le mans and it shows. Even in the rain they grip like glue.

Yeah, see that's what I'm nervous and right about. I want a good hard contact patch for my car. I corner hard and I drive aggressively. I also want the tire to look damn good on my wheels lol. Right Right now like I said I'm putting my stock all-season tires up to 40 psi pressure. The Michelin pilot sport 4.S is are $100.00 more expensive.. I don't think I can run strictly summer tires for my car since I live in New Jersey.. That's the problem.I don't have two sets of Wheels either..

Oh trust me I drive hard too. The Conte's definitely hold up in corner very well. I think you would only really notice a difference on the race track. The only gripe like I said is the initial slip and grip. If you're not dragging racing with them then it's fine. I also think some of that may be due to my hybrid, but I read a review on tire rack from an NHP officer that experienced the same thing with the tires. As I said initially you can't go wrong with either. The Contis are actually more comfortable at 40psi too.

Ah, okay. Thanks for your awesome feedback so far! Yeah, just like you, I drive hard and aggressive! So you have a hybrid accord? Yeah, for me I had the 10-speed auto gentlemen's type R accord 2.0 t.Love it to death.. as far as tires I guess I'll have to seriously consider the Continental DWS06 tires. Yeah I used to feel my tires up till about 36 or 7 psi of air but then I started filling them to 40 and they run handle absolutely great.. never had an issue with the stock tires.. That's why I want to go down in sidewall ratio to get a lower profile on my wheel obviously..

Yes loving my hybrid. I've driven turbo cars for the last 20 plus years, and was really excited not to have to deal with the maintenance of one. Also as I've gotten older the quiet is amazing and I really enjoy it. You should really consider more going to a 235 tire If you want better handling. I'm constantly preaching to my dad about going to a wider width tire / wheel. It offers more stability and better handling. I went with a wider 17 in wheel on my hybrid, but stuck with the stock 225. I'm considering going to a 235 on them. Now on my stock wheels that I kept, I'm considering going down to a 215 for better gas mileage, because I only use them for road trips. One of the first things I always do when replacing tires is go up a size and width if the wheel will allow it.

Hey yeah I hear you. I want the wire tires for better stability and handling of course. I might upset with the width of my stock tires? No. But I want to try something wider out honestly. I know that my car isn't great and pretty much sucks in the snow anyway so I'm not worried about the wider tires being snow plows for the snow haha. Yeah this is my first turbo car and I'm loving it.. I'm hoping to not keep it past 95,000 mi or so.. I don't want my depreciation to the window too much.if you know what I mean.. I have to see what happens in the future though for myself.. I would love to buy a Tesla.. or some kind of EV car but there still so expensive.. The battery technology has to get cheaper substantially.. not sure what my next car would be.. unfortunately.. I can't afford a TLX.type.S. or any car in that price range..

Yeah for snow tires you definitely want skinnier but I don't really have to deal with that where I am. I would love if Acura made a hybrid version comparable to this car.

Yeah I don't quickly about sticking with the stock tire size or just going up a little bit in width. However, like I said my car sucks as it is in the snow so I'm not really worried about it getting much worse as far as accurate making another hybrid car. Not so much of a hybrid kind of a guy. If I'm going to go all in Eevee technology I would want to Navy car. For right now, I love my sport 2.0 t-. In the next few years I'll have to figure out what exactly I'm going to do for myself though. Like I said, I can't really afford a 52,000 plus car yet. So I'll have to see what my options are.

Yeah I mean Tesla's are great the only problem that I have with Tesla's is they are build quality with panel gaps etc. I'm sure we've all heard of that before.. there are many other competitors for EV cars. Yes, the Ford mustang Mach E, but I don't want to cross over vehicle. You can tell I'm into sports cars. Of course I want to Tesla model 3 performance. However, it's also almost $70,000! A base model 3 with dual motors and extended range is about $40,000. I still think that's too expensive. I don't think the technology is there yet. As far as a hybrid a cord goes, I don't think I would want to buy the same exact model that I have now lol. Honestly, I looked at the Mazda 3 turbo hatch a little bit. Just to look around. It comes with a stock tire size width of 215 though! Wow... Those are skinny tires!

Yeah I know. no Tesla's ever coming into my house! Maybe when I stop seeing bumpers, roofs, and suspension pieces just falling off maybe. The id4 and mustang both interest me, so does a used Taycan. But a lot of these vehicles are having first gen battery issues so probably wait till second gen which is about when we are looking to purchase.

Yeah definitely for sure. I have heard of that as well. I'm really curious how the EV used car market's going to be in the next few years though. I follow a lot of car review YouTubers and they all say the same thing that the Volkswagen ID.4 isn't so good.. everyone says the mustang Maki is a better car overall. I just don't want to cross over. I was also considering the case in your GT2 but that's also $52, 000.00. I would love a hatchback style back versus a trunk.

Yeah my dad said the same thing. "YOU want a hybrid?". Once you do it it's easier than you think. I love me some wagons / hatchbacks always have. If I could only have one car it would be an E63 S wagon. Would so love to see Audi import the real RS6, especially since I read they have some wicked stuff in store for the electric one. The instant torque and acceleration, as well as the quiet of the vehicle is something I don't think I can live without now

Yeah. For me I'm not a Mercedes guy though. I would love to get a Porsche panamera turbo S. If I weren't to SUV's my wife knows that I would get an X5M competition if I had that kind of cash..
