For those (like myself) that were unaware I was watching a YouTube video today regarding our car's and found out there were two different positions to latch the front hood open... one is the "normal" and the other is what is referred to as the "service" position... the latter opens the hood further back allowing easier/more access to the engine compartment. See attachments for these positions...

I've known about this for some time. However, I'm a chicken when it comes to using the full service position of the front hood. That's because it seems like it could easily tip backwards onto the windshield, especially if the hood got bumped or hit by a blast of wind.
My thought is in the "service" position it would be in the shop (or garage) and the wind wouldn't be a factor... also if the hood latch rod is properly secured in the hole it should prevent (normal gusts of wind/bumping) from going backwards into the windshield. However I will keep your comment in mind if I decide to use that position outside where that (wind especially) could be a concern.
The hood is probably secure in the service position, especially in a garage. It's just that I'm being a chicken about it ...

I think I’m going to try and retrofit a piston style hood prop to the Accord. I can’t stand that old technology hood prop.

Thanks for the tip @Fired00d !
Appreciate the heads up, can't say that I ever even noticed. And I 100% agree @Abe Froman. I cant imagine gas springs being all that expensive.
LMK if you are able to find a piston set that could be mounted under the hood. I really detest the current set-up.
