Haven't looked into if its available right now but what I want is to have a full display GPS layout similar to what you already see happening with Audi. The system is already fully digital, the rest of it is programming. So far I have only seen navigation operating from the console mounted infotainment screen.

 

That would be sweet! The gauge cluster is big enough for this concept.

Do you think Honda will come up with a software update to get this feature?

What I was expecting and am disappointed about is NO BOOST GAUGE! How could they leave that out?? The Si has one, why not the Accord?

 

Doesn't the Civic cost more than the Accord? Maybe that's why it has the boost gauge and not the Accord. But it's not that great in the Civic anyways.
There's always aftermarket options I suppose.

 

My 18' Honda Accord Sport 6 speed doesn't have a boost gauge. I think the automatic has the boost gauge when they turn sport mode on. Me and the dealership was hoping there was something like that in manual 6 speed but figure out that it doesn't after hours of attempting to do this.

So I found another way to show boost gauge and extra gauges through Android Auto using aftermarket setup.

 

What aftermarket setup and app did you use to display boost?

 

thankfully there are some brands working on gauge systems that can function through a tablet but its a bit of a stretch for most owners, mostly for those heavily into modifying but much easier to hook these up than traditional aftermarket gauges.

It requires two paid apps ($2 and $5) and a OBDII Bluetooth connector but it is hella worth it. No splicing or fiddling with anything. Just requires some minor technical Android skills.

 

Now that's impressive, glad to see that you're using it. Its the beauty of tech these days, although our cars have become one big computer which can have downsides on the upside its easier to get information like this displayed. I have to admit though... hooking up analog gauges was sort of fun in my 90's hondas.

 

Thats pretty sweet that you've already found a workaround, and at a relatively low price. I'm sure down the line there will be physical aftermarket options, but like you said that will involve ripping open the dash and splicing wires. Do you find those digital gauges to be precisely accurate?

 

Yes they are pretty accurate. The data that it pulls directly from is the ECU which is pulled from the Torque Pro OBDII app to the AA display. I am currently working on extended PID so I can display the oil temperature. Then I am going to customize the gauges with different graphics and needles just to make it look cool

 

Having every bit of information accessible isn't all that important to me, but this is a great solution for those who really want to know accurate numbers from the ECU and without the need for splicing any wires! Keep us posted on your customization progress.

 

Speaking of accuracy, the real-time traffic feature proved to be hit-and-miss when it came to accuracy. So you may need to rely on your third party app like Google maps.

 

I mean if auto makers already have partnerships for features such as Android Auto/ Apple CarPlay, I don't get why they don't just use their navigation apps as well. Luckily with newer cars the navigation software can at least be updated, because with how often roads are changing/being built it can be frustrating trying to use the cars navigation.

 

Some of the more high end manufacturers are trying to make their systems as similar to Android OS as possible, with pinch and zoom functions like the phone. I assume it's only a matter of time until apps can be mirrored onto the infotainment screen, but affordable cars like the Accord are usually the last ones to get it.

 

Yeah unfortunately if you want an all digital cluster, that will involve an entirely new set up. Think you're better off going the android route and getting further information provided that way. Makes no sense to rip out the dash of a brand new car.
